Thoughts on thoughts

The thoughts we plant become the garden of our life.

Your garden can grow flowers or your garden can grow weeds – the choice is up to you. When we nurture positive thoughts towards others and ourselves, we begin to radiate peace and tranquility. When we breed negative thoughts, we create chaos in our mind and throughout the whole world. Energy flows where attention goes.

Have you ever noticed when you’re having a bad day everything just keeps going wrong, but when you’re having a great day everything gets better and better? This is because of your thoughts!

I am usually (read: mostly always) late. Before, I would sit in my car screaming, “Oh man, I’m going to be so late!” which would make me much more stressed. But now I say, “I am in perfect and divine timing.” I feel at ease and will usually get there on time – or, at least, not as late.

Our madness (our negative thoughts) can also manifest physically making us ill. In this book, Our Thoughts Determine Our Lives, there is a story of a sick woman who came to visit Elder Thaddeus. She was unable to walk and her husband had left her. No doctor could figure out what was wrong.

The Elder looked at her and said, “You are not physically ill! You are too depressed. Sing! Sing and your husband will come back to you!”

The woman looked at him for a while and then practically ran with joy back to her car. This goes to show that a peaceful life begins with inner peace.

Love, peace, and tranquility, like all good things, comes from the grace of God. But, you can definitely give yourself a leg up (pun fully intended, see above) by changing your thinking.

Once you are aware of your thoughts you will notice it is your natural inclination to be positive. We are spiritual beings that yearn for light. Guide yourself there by thinking positive thoughts for our thoughts determine our lives.

Our thoughts, moods, and desires set a path for our life. Our thoughts reflect our whole life. If our thoughts are quiet, peaceful, and full of love, kindness, and purity, then we have peace, for peaceful thoughts make possible the existence of inner peace, which radiates from us. However, if we breed negative thoughts, then our inner peace is shattered.
