Where do you meet other Orthodox people?

Wouldn’t you love to go to a Sofia Sync rooftop dinner party?

A few weeks ago, I was in Brooklyn for tapas and drinks with a friend when we got to chatting about how we meet people. We are Orthodox professionals interested in meeting and networking with others in our community, but we’ve come to a significant roadblock. We’re completely stumped as to where to meet new Orthodox friends and singles!

We’ve met most of our current friends through our family, friends of friends, or church community at a conference, retreat, or camp. Interestingly, because of the Internet, now only 30% of couples meet through family and friends. The Internet has become the third most common place to meet someone with one-fourth of Americans meeting their spouses online.

So, I’m curious. How do you meet other Orthodox people? Do you prefer meeting people organically, or have you had success with an app or online site?

I usually meet people online. I obviously love to meet people spontaneously, say at a coffee shop or party, or through someone I know, but I just don’t feel like that happens a lot these days. Everyone uses an app or dating site.
